jungle

T-Shirt: M&S; Jacket: Vintage; Coat: H&M; Skirt: H&M; Tights: Next; Shoes: Clarks. I never get clothes from cool places. I hate writing this part.

Hello! I had fun in the outdoors! Like, are these the first pictures I've ever taken where I'm outside? I don't like being outside and taking photos because it is awkward when someone passes you...and it doesn't help that I'm a naturally awkward person anyway. Well, in school, at least. I am bad at being around people...in general. The only people I actually act semi cool around are my friends and family. Even my writing seems awkward today..It isn't flowing. Oh. Well. I'm getting kicked off the computer now anyway...bye.

Tropical

Shirt: Vintage; Dress: John Lewis; Cardigan: Vintage; Obelix Badge: Second Hand; Tights: Next; Scarf: Knitted by my Granny(!); Fingerless Gloves: M&S; Bracelets: from childhood, small independent store in Newcastle and homemade.

Hello, my cupcakes! How are you today? I'm wonderful!

You may be thinking WHY IS SHE IN SUCH A GOOD MOOD??!?!! Well, I'll tell you why. The golden sun is pouring into the landing through the big window and I'm with my beautiful family with Nick Cave on full blast. It's just a happy morning and I don't have school tomorrow because it is a bank holiday and it is my little sisters birthday and party tomorrow.

Little Molly the demon is turning 8 tomorrow! She will be having a Tropical Island tomorrow, so be prepared to see a post full of sickly sweets, balloons, kitsch palm tress, inflatable parrots and sticky 8 year olds.

I am feeling so weirdly optimistic today! What, I wonder, has got into me?

Anyway, there's a busy day of blowing up balloons and hiding treasure hunts clues ahead, so bye for now!

But of all the powers that I could possess, To make you love me for me that would be best

Tights: Vintage; Skirt: Vintage; Jumper: Vintage; Coat: Borrowed; Headphones: Gifted; Necklace; Gifted

One thing you must know: when I say Vintage, I (usually) mean taken from my mother, or aunt.

These are some photos I took while at my grandparents house. This outfit isn't particularly wonderful, but ya  know, I may as well share it. I borrowed this coat from my granny because I forgot to bring one, and for the rest of that week I wore it NONE STOP. It just felt so pretty and pastel and vintage... but then I had to say goodbye to it. Sob.

So, to take my mind off me and a friend (not the coat or anything) having to part, I decided to try and make friends with the new girl. I've just realized, I always seem to make friends with the new girl. In fact, I'm always desperate to make friends with the new girl. I don't know why, but with a lot of girls in my classes, it seems like, kind of an aim, to get the new girl in your gang. I'm not sure if it is a test of how likable you are, or to show that you're popular, but if you come in halfway through the school year, it seems you'll have no trouble making friends. I don't think this competition between different girls is conscious, it just the automatic reaction. NEW GIRL. MUST BE MY FRIEND.

The title is lyrics from the Song CocknBullKid, by CocknBullkid

Interview with Ruby Karelia

Around the blogosphere, I doubt you will find many blogs that are professionally written, illustrated by quality pictures, interesting, unique AND run by a 12 year old. In fact, if you type into Google: 'blogs that are professionally written, illustrated by quality pictures, interesting, unique AND run by a 12 year old' no actual blog comes up, even though at least one blog should. This blog is called Ruby, and it catalogs Ruby Karelia's life, outfits, inspiration, music taste, and even a cute DIY! You should really check out Ruby's blog, because to me, she is a BLOGGER OF THE FUTURE!!!!! And a blogger of now as well really, but if she is this good now, you can only imagine how good at it she will be in a few years time! As you can probably guess, I was DELIGHTED when me and Ruby organised for an interview to take place. Like WOOO I'M INTERVIEWING THE FUTURE TAVI! So yeah. Read my interview with Tavi of the future, please.

Hi Ruby! Could you introduce yourself to my readers please?
I'm Ruby Strong. I'm a twelve year old blogger interested in writing and street style... and chocolate.

Where are you from?
I'm from Vancouver, Canada. I do not say "eh" after every sentence.

Have you been interested in style from a young age?
Of course! At age 3-5 I was longing for an occupation in modelling or fashion design. I remember being on the playground at school and being asked why I matched a dress with jeans.

When did you first start your blog, and why?
2009, I believe. I started ruby because my mom thought I should create a place to share my creative and poetic writing with the world. After exploring Blogger and finding Style Rookie, I wasn't that into just copying and pasting, so I started to get into it and post about my childhood, fashion, lifestyle, and just things I like.

Do you go to school? Do you enjoy it?
Yes, I do go to school, and I have to say, it's not always the best, and I think almost everyone can agree. My favourite subject is creative writing, the whole idea of expressing yourself through words. I think that is also the reason I enjoy fashion, expressing yourself by the way you dress.

Who inspires you most?
Strangers, people on the street, fellow bloggers, photographers, friends... A lot of people. But most of all, Tavi Gevinson of Style Rookie, who got me into the idea of posting ensembles that represent me as an individual, and she is continuously inspiring me. I'd really like to meet her one day!

What is it about street style that you find so interesting?
I like street style because it's spontaneous, and I love how people match one thing with another thing. Street style can be made up by things that are already in our closet or go well with any financial state we are in. I'm twelve. I can't afford designer fashion, and my fancier things come from my mom. With street style, I can get inspiration from strangers and use the clothes I already own to make something unique.

Your daily blog reads?
Oh, this is easy. Your blog, The Ruby Lotus, Style Rookie, The Locals, Lucy Can't Dance, Self Constructed Freak, Lolita... the list goes on. I also like Rookie and Hel Looks, though they're sites rather than blogs. I'd love to take part in either one, someday.

How do you spend your spare time?
Working on novels that I'll never finish and bouncing on a trampoline. I also like to act, play saxophone, and take photographs on the camera I continuously steal from my dad.

What is your current obsession?
I find myself to be obsessed by a lot of things at the same time, mostly just little things in my life that make me happy, like music or a new outfit. Or I get really interested in a shard of history, like how I'm really interested in Marie Antoinette, the French queen, and my personal favourite, The Beatles

What one thing are you going to miss about being young?
Oh, there are so many things, more than just one. And not being able to fit some of my favourite clothes is just the beginning. There is probably a whole galaxy of things I'll miss that create constellations of my everyday life.

Are you not impressed? If Ruby isn't the coolest 12 year old you've ever seen then you've seen a 12 year old who is half unicorn, yes? Visit Ruby's blog, and don't forget to comment and follow!

Scarborough/Obsession

One day I went to Scarborough. It was ok. The weather was cold. I took some pictures. The End.

I do love crappy GIFs!

Scarf: Borrowed; Denim Jacket: H&M; T-Shirt: H&M; Skirt: Asds; Tights: Vintage; Boots: Doctor Martens.

Loads and Loads of girls everywhere seem to be obsessed with One Direction. It can get slightly annoying, but I don't think it is necessary to hate One Direction and everyone who likes them, just because, you know, they're so mainstream. While it could be considered unhealthy to only ever talk about the band, and for them to completely fill you head, and make you blind to any other boys/girls you would otherwise be interested in, I don't see it like that. There is a whole community of One Direction fans (Directioners, FYI) on Twitter, Facebook, and many other social networking sites. At school, girls make new friends who also love One Direction and people who used to be shy now have something to talk about. I don't see a Directioner as someone who sits alone crying in a room by herself over pictures of Harry Styles. I see her (or him) as someone who is going through adolescence, and is developing new types of feelings for boys and men, and somewhere in that tangle of hormones and feelings and emotions, an obsession has been born. I find it perfect normal, even healthy, to have an obsession growing up, especially with someone who you find attractive. In fact, I think that being a Directioner, or a Belieber is even more healthy, because it isn't just you obsessing over random-boy-dude-no-one-has-heard-of all alone, but it is you connecting and relating to other girls who are also going through the same thing (puberty) as you, and making something out of it (Friends, websites, stuff). There is a point when it become too much, but I don't think a teen obsession can last too long, because you don't see many grown women wearing One Direction T-Shirts. (If you do, they need help.) Having an obsession is part of being a teen. And being a teen is cool. And there's cool boy band obsessed teenage girl vibes. So, lets totally all have a total Carly Rae Jespen moment.

A Scrapbook of Imaginary Adventures

I was trying to do film stills, and then I failed miserably. So think of these pictures more as illustrations of the imaginary visit me and my little sister took to the spooky, old, pastel-coloured house. 100 years ago. My ambitions for this shoot were to get dreamy, pale, pastel, kitsch, but spooky vibes across.

Ugh. I haven't posted in agezz guyzz!!! I'M A TERRIBLE PERSON NOOO. I have loads of photos uploaded onto my computer, therefore no excuse for the lack of posting! It was the Easter holidays and  I was was having QUALITY FAMILY TIME and YOLO and YFOLO (your family only live once) and then it was school again and I COULDN'T BE BOTHERED OK? Plus technology is weird and I hate it and don't understand it and I tried to upload the stupid photos and it didn't work and I screamed and punched the computer and it punched me back. And it hurt.

But, really, I don't have any excuse.

I joined Pottermore the other day. Do any of you people have it? (BTW I'm HollyMugwump28758. Add me! They chose the name, not me, ok?!!) I really enjoyed reading the Harry Potter books when I was like 5. Or 8. Or 10. Or something. I've never got round to reading them again because there's so many other books out there which I keep on reading then there's another one and I just keep on getting mooore boooksss! I read any book I can get my hands on (which is quite a lot), but sometimes I read one I don't think I'll like, just to prove myself wrong. I really enjoy most books I read, and swear down to myself that I'll read it again one day. I've read all 13 of A Series of Unfortunate Events twice, but that's an exception. For me, books are like holidays. You have a really nice holiday at one place, and it brings back so many memories and good times, and you really want to go again. But, alas! There is so many other places JAPAN that you want to visit, and so many new opportunities and ideas... I don't read the same book twice. I've said YOLO (again). There is billions of books out there, and billions are worth reading. But sometimes I do miss those feasts in Hogwart's main hall, or the gloomy adventures of the Baudelaire children. What are your reading habits? Do you read the same books again and again, or are you like me and like to try as many new ones as possible?

Bye for now my angelic angels! xxxx
